Delivering Bags of Hope
Delivering Bags of Hope is a food distribution event that provides 2 weeks worth of groceries for 350 of SDJ's neediest families over the winter break when school is not in session (when children cannot rely on school meals) and for 50 Janesville senior citizens.
The School District of Janesville will hold its 14th annual “Delivering Bags of Hope” food distribution event on December 17, 2022.
On the distribution day (every December) close to 250 volunteers sort, bag, and deliver groceries to receiving families. We partner with Festival Foods, Kwik Trip, and Seneca Foods to provide grocery items, and Dollar General to provide toiletry items and a warehouse facility for the bagging event to take place. Our community partners are truly amazing!
What is the Impact of Your Donation?
Unfortunately, the economic challenges faced by the Janesville community have only been made worse by the repercussions of the pandemic. The sad reality is that more and more SDJ families struggle to make ends meet. We observe poverty levels over 50% for families in the School District of Janesville, unemployment rates have increased, and achievement gaps have widened. These unprecedented challenges make our efforts to feed families more important than ever before.

Cooking Demonstration Fundraiser!
Join us for a night filled with entertainment, laughs, and delicious food & drink! SDJ will host a Cooking Demonstration Fundraiser featuring Celebrity TV Chef, Ace Champion, at the 10 South (formerly the Janesville Armory) on Wednesday, October 5, 2022! The talented Tim Elliott of WMTV Madison will be our Master of Ceremonies!
All members of the Greater Janesville community are invited! Chef Ace will demonstrate cooking signature dishes, and special VIP guests can taste-test. Silent auctions, and raffle baskets will be available for bidding. Proceeds will be used to purchase groceries for Delivering Bags of Hope. Tickets will go on sale August 1, 2022.
