4/23/26 Communication
Hello, Washington Families,
We are excited to report that your teachers have been in their new classrooms, preparing them for students next week. The staff at Adams and Madison have been very welcoming, and I know they will be for all of our students next week, too.
There has been a great deal of communication sent to you over the past week. To capture all that communication in one place, we have created a webpage for Washington families. As new information is emailed to you, it will be archived here.
If you have a student in P4J, please keep checking Class Dojo for updates from Mrs. Oswald.
Thanks,
Principal Peerenboom

Tuesday, 4/21/26 - School Locations
4/21/26
Hello Washington Families,
We are missing our students this week, but please know we are working on a plan to have students in school next week. There are many details to work out yet, but we wanted to share with you what we know at this point.
Washington sustained significant water damage, and we are planning on the likelihood that we will not be able to return there for the rest of this school year (36 school days). With that said, beginning on Monday, April 27, 2026, Washington students will be taught at alternate sites.
Grade K-3 Students, P4J, and Early Childhood will learn at Adams Elementary, located at 1138 E. Memorial Drive
Grades 4-5 and Talk and Learn will learn at Madison Elementary, located at 331 N. Grant Ave
Washington teachers will continue teaching your student at the new location. We will provide transportation from Washington to these other sites and back again.
More details, including room locations, busing times, school nutrition schedules, etc., will be provided soon.
Thanks, Principal Peerenboom
Sunday, 4/19/26 - School Cancelled for 4/20-4/24
4/19/26
Washington Families,
We are reaching out today after another tour of the school. Our school has extensive water damage, and we are very sorry to say that we will not be able to have school at Washington in the near future. We are working on an alternate location for instruction and will communicate the details by the end of the week.
- We are asking students to stay home this week. We will not be providing instruction for Washington students at all this week.
- If your student needs access to the prescription medication we have at school, please email Principal Peerenboom to arrange for a pickup.
- There is no access to the building, so we will not be able to have families retrieve other personal items at this time.
- Check your class Dojo for possible childcare opportunities for this week through local community organizations.
- Instruction will resume the week of April 27th. We will communicate those details as soon as they are available.
- We will continue to evaluate the building this week and will communicate with you as soon as we have more information. We appreciate your patience as we navigate this situation.
Thank you for your understanding.

Saturday, 4/18/26 - Water Damage to our School
4/18/26
Good morning, Washington Families,
We are reaching out this morning to let you know that Washington was impacted greatly by the rain last night. Our school has a significant amount of water in the lower level. We have hired a professional cleaning company to partner with our custodial staff to clean and restore our building. This process will take some time, so we know we will not be able to have staff or kids in our building on Monday.
We will continue to communicate as more information becomes available.
Mark Holzman, Superintendent
