General Overview

  • Washington School is located on the west side of Janesville at 811 N. Pine Street. The school sits on 11.8 acres of land.
  • Washington School has the most square footage (98,748) of all the elementary schools in Janesville.
  • Our school opened its doors in November 1939. Additions were built in 1952, 1968, and 1992.
  • There are 346 students at Washington School from Talk and Learn through Fifth grade.
  • There are a number of special instructional programs at Washington School, including and a Title I reading program. Students can also receive extra help through special programming for speech and language disabilities, learning disabilities, and cognitive disabilities.
  • Washington School has 56 dedicated staff members who continuously strive to provide Washington students with a safe and supportive learning environment.

Continuous Growth Plans

During this school year we focused on the three areas of DIVERSITY, STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT, and TECHNOLOGY. Many of the student activities and much of the staff training this year has centered on these three areas.

Special Programs

Washington Elementary offers a number of special programs that help to make our school a topnotch educational setting! Some of our special programs include:

  • The Washington Elementary Family Resource Center (FRC)
  • A before and after school child care program run by the YWCA
  • Breakfast offered to all our students
  • Washington Elementary Parent Teacher Association (PTA).
  • Student Activities/Programs

 

In addition to the special programs listed above, Washington Elementary also offers a variety of fun activities for students and families to participate in over the course of the school year, including:
